Welcome to Garments With Simple Rectangles
If you can make a rectangle, you’re not just a crocheter, you're a seamstress working in the medium of yarn.
Crocheting garments that actually fit, look and feel great, and don’t take forever to make are not a myth (I promise).
So if you’ve mastered the art of straight lines and you’re dreaming about making your first crochet top, I’m here to demystify the art of garments using simple rectangles that are fun to make and flattering to wear.
Confidence starts with knowledge - Let’s go!
Hi, I'm Salena Baca!
I learned to crochet at the age of five and I haven’t put my hook down since.
While my first and only projects were blankets until my mid-twenties, I wanted to learn and do so much more with crochet.
So I practiced, made a whole bunch of mistakes, frogged thousands of yards, and made hideous things that didn’t fit at all.
Until, I finally learned enough about crochet garments to publish an entire book: Two Simple Shapes.
Guess what… There are a lot of simple rectangles!
Today, I’m here to share things I’ve learned about crocheting garments that use simple rectangles so you can have the knowledge and skill to make things you’ll love too!
Curriculum
- Overview
- If I’m just making a bunch of rectangles, can I crochet garments without a pattern?
- What’s the deal with yarn choice - does it really matter?
- Is it possible to crochet garments that are trendy and not ‘homemade’ looking?
- Won’t rectangles just be shapeless and unflattering?
- I get stuck halfway through a larger project, so how can I stay motivated to finish a bunch of rectangles?
